Folk Media Peru is an institution that, since 2010, has made a difference in the dissemination of folklore through social outreach campaigns in various locations. From the beginning, we have been dedicated to providing support to the most vulnerable communities, using culture and folklore as fundamental elements for social transformation.

 

Our passion for Latin American culture and folklore has grown stronger over time, leading us to expand our reach to significant cultural events.

 

The marinera, Peru's national dance and UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, is one of the most emblematic dances and has become one of the main artistic expressions that we promote and disseminate. Through performances at festivals and events, we have succeeded in bringing the beauty and tradition of the marinera to different international stages.

 

In 2014, in collaboration with the Peruvian consulate and various institutions, we screened the film "Dreams of Glory," the first musical film about this dance, as a way to introduce and promote the value of Peruvian culture to a broader international and foreign audience. This initiative allowed us to organize a marinera competition in Austin.

 

In June 2023, Folk Media Peru officially became a recognized non-profit organization by the state of Texas. This recognition provided us with greater legitimacy and the opportunity to expand our impact on society.

 

Our commitment to education, culture, and folklore knows no bounds. Currently, we focus on being a leading force in the promotion and dissemination of cultural heritage at a national and international level. Through educational events and artistic and cultural activities, we aim to promote education and personal development, thus contributing to the growth and well-being of children, youth, and adults throughout the state of Texas.
